Joe Lescher
Joseph Lescher has been the Principal Bass of the San Francisco Opera since 1992. Prior to his appointment Mr. Lescher was a member of the Seattle Symphony and the Oregon Symphony. Mr. Lescher has worked with the San Francisco Symphony, San Francisco Ballet, Chicago Symphony and Milwaukee Symphony. He has been a member of the Grand Teton Music Festival in Jackson Wyoming for the past 8 years.
Mr. Lescher has taught at the San Francisco Conservatory and served as faculty of the Asian Youth Orchestra.
Mr. Lescher studied with Warren Benfield at DePaul University in Chicago and with renowned soloist and teacher Franco Petracchi at Accademia Chigiana in Siena, Italy and Sermoneta, Italy. Other teachers have included Ed Barker, and Joe Guastafeste. Mr Lescher performs on instruments by George Panormo (1810), and Giovanni Grancino (1720).
